BASIC SUMMARY:
The position is a unique technical opportunity for a person with a basic understanding of irrigation practices and principles, and a willingness to discover a broad range of new skills. Work with and assist the Irrigation Manager with daily operations and ongoing new developments. Not a typical technician position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observe, document, and report any irregularities in the irrigation system, and water usage concerns to the management staff and/or appropriate contractor(s).
- Notable professional interpersonal, community/industry networking and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software.
- Daily communication monitoring of the LYNX central computer to Toro satellites.
- Program, operate, maintain, upkeep, report of water usage, and troubleshooting of the irrigation systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting Central computer and Toro satellite controllers.
- Basic wiring (both conventional and 2-wire) comprehension and troubleshooting abilities.
- Compile and submit reports and records on the status of all systems, visual inspection of the pumps stations’ water usage, and HOA properties.
- Conduct quarterly (four per year) inspections of all satellites, both commons and HOA.
- Communicate with management, owners, subcontractors, etc. regarding the status of the system.
- Hold users and contractors in compliance with state and local water restrictions and water permitting usage.
- Interpret irrigation plans and locate zone valves, isolation valves, and wire paths.
- Tale an active role in water conservation practices with shareholders.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE /OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. AA or AS preferred.
- One to three years of irrigation technician experience required.
- Experience in centralized irrigation systems i.e., Toro LTC Plus satellites and LYNX Central computer.
- Basic knowledge in the field of irrigation, installation, maintenance, and repairs required.
- Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting irrigation and water use.
- Maintain records and submit reports on condition of the irrigation systems and visual inspection of properties.
- Able to read, write, speak English to comprehend simple instructions (i.e., labels, safety information).
- Understand and carry out instructions and complete work assignments accurately.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to operate vehicle and possess the required license.
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, and emergencies.
- Schedule vacations during the off-season months.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITY TO:
- Grasp, lift, carry, or transport up to 50 lbs.
- Push/pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Reach with hands and arms, bend stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Stand and walk for the length of scheduled shift.
- Perform duties of the job while exposed to sun and hot weather conditions for prolonged periods.
- Determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned through visual acuity.
- Express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly, and quickly.
- Perceive the nature of sounds at a normal speaking level and make fine discriminations in sound.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
- Withstand a moderate noise level in the work environment.
