Front-End Developer (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) III – Contractor

Job Type: Temporary Contract, 31 weeks

Location:  Remote (U.S.-based)

Pay: Available on W2

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Front-End Developer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a developer with a strong background in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS who is passionate about building high-performance, user-centric web applications. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a custom data visualization application using Deck.GL, transitioning from a legacy mapping tool to a more efficient and customizable platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate design mockups into pixel-perfect HTML/CSS/JavaScript implementations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage projects through design, development, and QA phases.
• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Deck.GL for advanced geospatial data visualization.
• Design and implement scalable front-end and back-end architecture.
• Integrate APIs, databases, and third-party services.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and responsiveness.
• Ensure all user inputs are validated and secure before submission to the back-end.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high code quality standards.
• Enable and configure necessary plugins to support site functionality.
• Identify project blockers and propose creative, compliant solutions.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in web development.
• Write and maintain technical documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–8 years of experience in front-end development or a related area.
• Proficient in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks.
• Experience with CMS and e-commerce platforms.
• Familiarity with Deck.GL or similar data visualization libraries is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web performance optimization.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with geospatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles).
• Knowledge of back-end technologies and full-stack development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment pipelines.
