Uncommon Paws is a family-owned pet boutique located in the heart of Portland’s Old Port. For 13 years, we’ve been providing pet parents with high-quality, unique products — including our handmade collars, leashes, harnesses, bandanas, and dog beds, crafted right here in Portland.

Retail Associate Responsibilities:
Greet every customer like a friend walking into your home — with energy and genuine friendliness.
Help pet parents find stylish, functional, and high-quality products for their pets.
Stay proactive during slow periods and hustle during busy times — multi-tasking is key!
Learn our product lines and share your knowledge with confidence.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment (vacuuming, mopping, restocking, tidying up).
Support opening/closing duties and overall daily operations.
What You Bring to the Table:
Retail experience (minimum 1 year) — you know how to create a great in-store experience!
Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you love connecting with people.
Ability to self-manage — you’re motivated and get things done without hand-holding.
Problem-solving mindset — you take initiative and think on your feet.
Love of pets (bonus points if you’ve worked in pet retail!).
Comfortable with light cleaning and handling occasional pet messes — hey, it happens!
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 6-8 hour shifts.
Availability:
We are hiring for both part-time and full-time positions .
Flexible availability is required — including weekends and holidays .
This role is not suitable for high school students due to hour requirements.
