Job Description

Overview

Plant With Purpose is a $14.4 million, 40+ year-old Christian organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty, reversing deforestation, and restoring hope through the power of Jesus Christ, working through partners in nine countries.

Under the direction of its Board of Directors, the new Chief Executive Officer will lead this growing organization into its envisioned future. Responsibilities include operations planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, personnel and fiscal management, fund development, public relations, and ensuring that international programs are resourced and effective.

History and Today

Plant With Purpose was founded in 1984 and has grown to become a global leader at the nexus of spiritual renewal, environmental restoration, and poverty alleviation. The organization works in nine countries with partnerships involving local churches and communities, and has planted nearly 80 million trees with direct partnerships with more than 650,000 people. Revenues have grown from $7.4 million in 2020 to $14.4 million in 2025, with funding primarily from foundations and major gifts from individuals.

The current CEO, Scott Sabin, will retire at the end of 2025. The Board operates under policy governance and consists of 12 members, with about 43 U.S.-based staff and international partners in nine countries.

Position Profile

The new CEO will be a next generation executive leader who is strategically minded, administratively skilled, highly collaborative, and able to inspire and motivate in a challenging nonprofit space. The leader will navigate a complex organization with domestic operations and governance and nine international partners with their own boards and staff. Success will be measured by healthy relationships with the Board, staff, partners, and funders, and by achieving goals in the 2026-2028 Purpose Plan and related initiatives.
