Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join our estate planning department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of estate planning strategies, probate, and trust administration, along with client-facing skills. This position offers the opportunity to serve a diverse clientele and engage in meaningful legal work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation and Relationship Management
  • Meet with clients to discuss their estate planning needs and objectives.
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with clients through effective communication and legal guidance.
  • Drafting Legal Documents
  • Prepare comprehensive estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
  • Review and revise documents as necessary, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state laws.
  • Probate and Trust Administration
  • Manage probate proceedings, including the filing of necessary documents and representation in court.
  • Assist clients with the administration of trusts, including asset distribution and compliance with fiduciary duties.
  • Strategic Planning and Advice
  • Provide strategic advice on tax implications and estate planning strategies to minimize tax liability and maximize benefits for clients.
  • Stay updated on changes in estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Work closely with other attorneys and staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing insights and updates on case progress and client matters.
  • Business Development
  • Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives to attract new clients and grow the estate planning practice.
  • Engage in networking activities and seminars to establish the firm’s presence in the community and the legal field.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Missouri Bar and good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, probate or trust administration.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state estate and gift tax laws.
  • Proven experience in drafting estate planning documents and navigating the probate process.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in drafting complex estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives using WealthCounsel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
  • Skilled in maintaining and tracking client interactions, case progress, and follow-ups using CRM platforms to ensure seamless communication and client satisfaction.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, contributing to group objectives while also managing individual responsibilities.
  • Proficient in legal research and using legal research tools.
